Option 1: Original Design with Enhanced Practice Area
This proposal focuses on essential course modernisation and the introduction of a new practice facility, while retaining the historical James Braid heritage and existing clubhouse structures.
- New Practice Facilities: The development includes a 10-bay covered golf range and a multi-functional practice area. The existing course layout will be redesigned to accommodate these new bays.
- Core Course Improvements: Significant investment is allocated for upgrades to irrigation installation and bunkering. These works will deliver a year-round, high-quality playing experience.
- Safety and Standards: Infrastructure upgrades are included to ensure the course meets modern safety and technological standards. These improvements will mitigate health and safety issues on the course. Find out more here.
Core Needs Driving the Proposal
This option was initially put forward to address the key needs identified in the feasibility study and the Golf South Ayrshire 10 year strategy:
- Future-Proofing Golf: To enhance the golf infrastructure and future-proof the region’s golfing services.
- Achieving Sustainability: To improve Belleisle and achieve a long-term sustainable financial model.
- Community Support: To respond to the high support from engagement feedback for improved practice facilities.
- Destination Status: To act as a key asset, reinforcing South Ayrshire’s position as a leading destination for both golfing and leisure tourism.
Investment Breakdown
Total investment of £3.6 million. This includes £2.4 million for course upgrades and £1.2 million for an enhanced practice facility installation on the course.

Projected annual net profit of £47,903. The net profit projections include the cost of borrowing.
