Reducing the Risk
A golf course is a beautiful and relaxing environment, but unlike any outdoor recreational space, it presents certain health and safety risks.
Whilst much of the existing Belleisle golf course design has stood the test of time, there are areas on the course where the risk of injury or instances where the golf ball is leaving the golf course has been assessed by the Course Architect to be higher than acceptable.
We are therefore proposing to redesign these specific areas of the golf course to reduce the risk to neighbouring properties and improve the positioning of some tees to promote a safer experience for all players.
This is a positive step forward that will not only improve safety of users but will be done so to retain as much of the original James Braid design as possible.
Area One

Reducing risk of injury to public / damage to third party property.
Issue: An exceptional number of golf balls are leaving the boundary of the course resulting in damage to neighbouring properties
Proposal:
1. Increasing the visibility on the left-hand side by removing trees and shrubs.
2. Moving the tee boxes backwards to move the landing zone away from the property.
3. Realigning the fairway further to the left.
4. Increasing the bunkering on the left-hand side of the fairway to encourage tee shots further left.
5. Increasing the amount of trees in this area.
Area Two

Reducing risk of golfer-on-golfer injury.
Issue: Players on 17th tee at risk from players on 16th hole and players on 18th tees at risk from players on 15th hole
Proposal:
1. Reposition 17th tees
2. Reposition 18th tees
Area Three

Reducing risk of golfer-on-golfer injury
Issue: Area of 1st Green, 2nd tee, 4th green and 5th tee is extremely congested and presents multiple risks of injury
Proposal:
1. Reposition 1st Green
2. Reposition 2nd tees
3. Reduce 5th tee in width
