Will the Golf Course be closed during the works?
Depending on which Course Masterplan is progressed, and with projects of this size it is inevitable that there will be some disruption to play.
Whilst we will endeavour to keep as many holes open as possible during the works, it may be a requirement to close a hole or part of the course to work efficiently and maintain the safety of the contractor.
Regular updates would be provided throughout the project to advise local Golf Clubs and users of any impact to access to the golf course.
What are the Health and Safety Concerns?
As with most sports there is a degree of accepted risk, and whilst much of the existing golf course design has stood the test of time, there are areas where the risk of injury or unacceptable instances where the golf ball is leaving the golf course causing a risk of injury and damage to third party property is higher than acceptable. This is due to the huge progression in equipment technology which results in error shots going further and faster than ever.

Will there be additional parking created to compensate for loss of parking on the Seafield Carpark?
Potential areas for additional car parking have been identified, as well as provisions made for active travel.
If the funding is secured, when will the works commence?
Depending on when the funding is secured, and the availability of the Contractors, some works, that does not unduly impact on play, may commence as early as Summer 2026.
If Option 3 is progressed, a planning application will be required, if successful then we will be able to provide a further update.
If Option 3 is progressed will access to the clubhouse be maintained?
Access to facilities will be maintained throughout the works, either within the Stables or the Golf Clubhouse.
2027 is Belleisle’s centenary year, will the works be finished for this important milestone?
We are conscious that this is an important milestone in the history of Belleisle Golf Course.
If the funding is secured, some works on the golf course may be able to commence as early as Summer 2026. Timing of the works is critical, particularly for newly turfed areas. All new turf areas will require a period of time to root and be resilient enough for playing off. The earlier this is laid the longer it has to bed in. If new turfed areas are not laid until late Autumn 2026, then it may not be ready for play until May 2027, these indicative dates are largely subject to optimal weather conditions and the works schedule.
